Largest Live Fraser River Sturgeon Tagged on Record!

Over 100 Years Old and 345cm (approx. 11’4″) Fork Length

On August 16, 2019 Alan Urmeneta, Darren Auramenko, Brant Craig, Frank Koch caught a true fish of a lifetime near Mission, British Columbia. With the assistance from adventure guide Darren Mulrooney, they battled this river monster for 40 minutes!

After landing this white sturgeon and tagging it for the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society (FRSCS) monitoring and assessment program, they were amazed to realize this fish measured 345.44cm in length (fork length) and 154.94 cm in girth – a whopping 11’4″. Those measurements make this the largest live ‘tag and released’ white sturgeon on the Fraser River. This white sturgeon is most likely a female and is well over 100 years old. It is estimated to weigh roughly 800lbs.

We would like to thank Caldic Canada for fishing with us and giving us the opportunity to get this amazing dinosaur!!
